SURVIVING CANCER ONE HEALTHY THOUGHT AT A TIME
“The program helped me set my emotional GPS on joy and healing. I never thought joy was possible in cancer.”
If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, feeling joyful may seem near impossible. But while worrying about what will happen next, feeling pressured by family members and doctors to make decisions, having a treatment plan you don’t fully understand, and feeling crummy as a result of those treatments and procedures may feel strenuous – to say the least – all that seemingly insurmountable stress can be overcome.
Cancer doesn’t have to be a mental and spiritual obstruction.
In fact, you can have cancer and be bursting with happiness.
Using the Mind to Heal
Based on the influential work of O. Carl Simonton, MD, an acclaimed oncologist, the Beat The Odds program is a ten week course that focuses on mind/body medicine skills and techniques, providing you with the right tools to find wonder and glee in your life despite being diagnosed with cancer.
All of our scientifically proven techniques are practiced in class and can be implemented immediately to address emotional, spiritual, and physical anguish.
“My cancer will not stop me from having fun and joy. Quite contrary – it motivates me to have more happiness in my life despite my diagnosis. That is how I beat the odds.” – Barbara W.
We truly want you to be blissful, but there is another more important reason we’ve made finding joy the primary focus of our program: your mindset can play a pivotal role in the healing process.
While typical cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation are crucial, research has shown that cancer patients who also work to re-frame their thinking may increase the likelihood of survival and can dramatically improve their quality of life.

Improving Your Quality of Life
Our program has greatly improved the lives of many cancer patients.
In just ten weeks, our program can help you to:
- Become more effective at dealing with stressors.
- Sleep better.
- Cultivate more gratitude.
- Live a more balanced lifestyle that includes regular play and laughter.
- Look at the future with healthy hope, free of the fear of being disappointed.
- Remain relaxed when awaiting or receiving test/lab results.
- Feel calmer before treatments or surgery.
- Recover faster.
- Shift your attitude towards your treatments in order to improve their effectiveness.
- Beat the odds of feeling bad.
Our program doesn’t just help you cope better and feel better, it’s also designed to help your support person be more effective by teaching them to recognize their own needs in order to prevent burnout. You will both learn tools to improve communication about your care, and other important matters in your lives.

We want to give you the skills to harness the power of your mind so you can maximize your ability to heal.
In fact, here are some tools you can use right now to improve your mindset and feel better: instant therapy.
It is NOT a Support Group
While we provide lots of support to our participants, this is a structured 10 week course consisting of ten 2.5 hour classes teaching practical skills. You will not be expected to share with others problems or emotions you want to keep private. As a matter of fact, you will learn how to effectively deal with these problems and emotions and resolve them in the privacy of your home. Private, individual or couple/family, sessions complement the program and are offered to those who are willing to further hone their skills of reducing daily stress and addressing their specific issues.
We know that treating cancer can be a hefty expense, but the good news is that the cost of our program is covered by most insurance plans.

The program has profoundly helped me strive for the highest ambition and for the greatest joy in my life. I have learned that our higher emotions of love, peace, joy, and appreciation come from a divine source. When we assimilate human effort with divine power, through daily meditation, these elusive emotions become part of our being.
Also, I have realized that we influence ourselves for good or ill. Our lives are inadvertently guided by an intrinsic stream of thoughts and small decisions that add up to life or death. We are born to share happiness just as surely as the sun is meant to shine. We are social beings by nature and are not meant to isolate but instead to surround ourselves with people who know something about making good choices so that we may learn to achieve the greatest success in our lives. Come and enjoy the sojourn.

Long Beach, CAI wish that every caner patient would have a chance to attend the “Beat The Odds” Program. I feel very fortunate that this program was available to me, and that I could be a part of it.
What I have learned and how it has helped me to “be well again” is immeasurable. The strength and support Dr. Mariusz Wirga and Dr. Aleksandra Wirga offer is amazing. Everyday I still use what I learned from attending the group.
When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I heard everything from you have a 50/50% chance of survival to your prognosis is excellent.
I learned through the program that we are not statistics, and no matter how sick a person is they can get well again.
I learned more about the value of meditation and how “well thinking” can support one through the tough times.
